Insurance Information

There are many different agreements between orthodontic insurance carriers and their subscribers, and each contract provides a different benefit. Most policies do not cover the full cost of treatment, they are designed to reduce your out-of-pocket expenses but not eliminate them completely. However, orthodontic insurance generally differs from regular dental insurance in that each insured individual usually has a lifetime maximum benefit for orthodontic services. This benefit is paid as a percentage of the orthodontic fee until the benefit maximum is reached. Many insurance carriers have a 50% limit on the coverage of orthodontic treatment. The exact language on your orthodontic rider in your dental insurance will explain the details of your coverage such as maximum amount covered, method of payment, pre-certification requirements, etc. The amount of coverage and details of each plan vary significantly from one employer to another.

For your convenience, we will gladly assist you in in determining your plan’s coverage, by submitting insurance claims on your behalf, pertaining to charges for care rendered in our office. Although we directly accept assignment of benefits, please be aware our primary financial relationship is with our patients or their families and not with their respective insurance companies. Responsibility for collection of benefits from insurance companies rest with the insured party. Our professional services are rendered and charged to the patient or their family and they are ultimately responsible for payments of all fees incurred should their insurance change or be terminated.
